Owl Puffballs

The other day, I took a different road on my way home from work than usual, and in the process I passed an owl burrow that had a little baby owl sitting outside of it, along with another peeking from inside. I got a little video of them. You'll note that Mom or Dad is up on the T. Look at the funny head bob that the baby does!

In this video, the little owl got nervous and jumped down into the burrow, and then peeked out at me alongside his brother/sister. Watch as he seems to glance up at his parent repeatedly for reassurance.

Very cute! What was even cuter was a day or two later when I passed by another burrow that had babies, and they were exercising their wings. They would hop up and flap, flap, flap! It was adorable! Unfortunately I didn't get any video of them. I tried to pull over closer to get video, but I think my Jeep made them nervous, because they quit the cute flapping and just sat and looked at me.

It's the first time I've seen baby owls!

Aw, such cute little poof balls!

So cool, Heather. I had no idea about that they lived in burrows! I guess I just assumed they were like eagles and had massive nests.

There sure is a lot of wildlife to admire where you live. I suppose a lot of it has do with you, taking the time to look for and observe those wonderful creatures.

Those owls are so cute. I have fallen behind reading blogs. I just looked over your last few posts. Enjoyed the Regatta one. That must have been fun to watch. I hope you are having some luck with the ants at your house. We are still getting rain here. Very strange for May. So I have not gotten back outside to do more on the Petunia Tower. Thanks for visiting me today!!
