Bert (on the right) was found in the middle of the street. I was carrying him when we encountered Myrtle on the side of the road about 20 feet further on.
I'm just keeping them overnight for pictures and study. I have to figure out where to let them go. Perhaps over by my Mom's place, where there are lots of ponds and creeks.
By the way, did you know that baby softshell turtles have a soft spot in the middle of their belly like a baby has in their head? If you have your finger placed over that soft spot, you can feel their muscles tense and contort as they they stretch their heads out and kick and claw with their feet.
Cute little boogers, ain't they?
